Sent: Fatima’s UK Kit

You all remember Fatima? She sent me a great package full of treats & a lovely letter some time ago.

I was informed that Fatima will be going to fabulous London in May. She is crazy about everything UK-related, a true Anglophile. This is the first time she is going to the UK & I wanted to send her something nice. At first, I only wanted to send her a Crumpled City Map of London, but I went a little overboard.

Crumpled City Maps are awesome. These are made from Tyvek, which looks like paper but it really isn’t. It’s a waterproof, indestructable material, on which you can write, protect yourself from the rain, use as a picknick plaid and even throw in the washing machine.

But as it turned out, the postage box was still pretty empty with just the map in it. So I found some nice London-themed goodies to go along. Because, who would go to London without an UK kit? Exactly, noone in their right mind.

I bought a Moleskine and stamped it with a London stamp. Also some handmade Jane Austen soap from PenandCandle. Some UK postcards from Zazzle, half a paper pad, luggage tags & a set of bookmarks from the All Aboard collection from Papermania. A set of 4 sheets of UK themed postal stickers from Sellzang. Some die cuts from the Chronology collection , a facemask & a teabag. On the last minute I made a bracelet with a cute brass key, put it in an apothecary bottle, adorned it with a 7Gypsies bottle label and distressed it with Distress Ink (Ranger).

I had some kraftpaper laying around, so I decorated it with London themed stamps (a crown, a Victorian chair) from the Printery stamp set (Prima Marketing, Inc). To my surprise, everything fit into the box. And it is still small enough to fit through a mailslot!

I painted the box black, cut out an opening flap and stuck 4 photocorners by Tim Holtz on the inside. I slid a Pride & Prejudice postcard (Zazzle) in to cover the backside of the brads I used on the top of the box.

As I said, I used a lot of Graphic45 stickers on the front, as well as some Bo Bunny brads (Camp a Lot), a brass key and gears from the Chronology collection (Papermania), a wooden pocket watch (which I’ve painted black, also from Prima Marketing), some stickers from the Idea-ology Lost & Found collection (Salvage Stickers) & a sticker of Jetta Goudal I found in a magazine.

Next, the box needed to be secure for posting. So I wrapped it in brown kraft paper, stamped it up and used some rubb-ons from 7Gypsies.

I hope the box will arive safely. I wanted to wait a little longer before shipping this project, because May is still a month away. But Fatima started talking about buying a map of London & I tried to talk her out of it (because I had my Crumpled City Map for her). Must have been weird for her. All excited telling me about buying a map to highlight the must-see spots & here I am saying she should wait..

Anyhoo, onto the pictures!

  1. It arrived safe and sound but as soon as I came home I found my sisters circling around the package hahah! Then I found out it was addressed to me and I was psyched!! Everything was so nicely detailed and UK themed and I felt more Anglophile than ever XD! I loved every single gift and I will sure enjoy using them, especially the amazing map, bracelet and notebook! When the time is right you’ll find a surprise on your doormat;)
    Love,
    Fatima
